EmailAlert Portable Description
This is the portable version of EmailAlert, an approachable Windows utility designed to send simple emails via SMPT. It comes packed with a basic set of options that should be easy to configure, even by those less experienced with email clients.
Portability advantages
Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the executable file in any part of the hard disk and just click it to run, as well as save EmailAlert to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
Worth taking into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the disk, leaving it clean after removal.
Simple GUI and options
The main app window has a plain and simple structure, providing quick access to all available settings. You can specify the SMTP server, SSL, port number and login credentials, as well as indicate the sender, receiver, subject and message. In addition, you can insert the current time and date stamp, computer name or user name of logged on user. What's more, it is possible to run a simulation before actually sending the email.
Evaluation and conclusion
The tool is very light when it comes to CPU and RAM, so it does not hog system resources. We have not come across any stability problems throughout our evaluation, since EmailAlert did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. On the other hand, the app has not been updated for a while and features only some basic options.
