Erlang Calculator Description
Erlang Calculator is a lightweight CAD application that brings to your desktop the functionality of three calculators: Erlang B, Extended Erlang B and Erlang C. These traffic calculators are used for estimating telecommunications trunk groups, calculating VoIP bandwidth and approximating staffing requirements of a call center.
Portable running mode
Since this is a portable program, you can run it on your system by simply opening the executable file. There’s no installation involved in the entire process.
It does not leave entries in your Windows registry so you may get rid of it by simply deleting the files that you have downloaded from the Internet. In addition, you may store it on any USB flash drive or other devices, carry it with you, and run it on the target system without administrative privileges.
User interface
Erlang Calculator does not impress much in the visual department as it sports a plain GUI. However, the multi-tabbed layout makes it quite practical because you can easily switch between the key features of the program, such as Erlang B, Extended Erlang B and Erlang C calculator.
Working with the calculators
The Erlang B calculator can be used by telephone system designers in order to calculate the number of lines you need based on the busy hour traffic.
The Extended Erlang B calculator comes with several tweaking parameters that allow you to calculate the probability of blocking, lines (number of servers), and traffic data.
Last but not least, Erlang C gives you the possibility to calculate the number of agents that are needed in a call center based on several configuration parameters, such as quantity and length of the incoming calls.
Bottom line
All things considered, Erlang Calculator comes with a handy suite of configuration settings for helping you perform several calculations related to the traffic in a call center. On the downside, the GUI cannot be described as highly intuitive, so rookies may need extra time in order to decode the program’s features.
