ESET Win32/Filecoder.R virus cleaner Description
ESET Win32/Filecoder.R virus cleaner is a command-line application designed to remove the Filecoder.R ransomware agent from infected files. Its aliases are Trojan:Win32/Comame (Microsoft), Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Rector.aw (Kaspersky) and Ransom!dk.trojan (McAfee).
This is a Trojan that, once it gains access to your computer, it scans your disk drives (C:, D:, E:, F:) to encrypt your personal documents, photos, archives, emails, PowerPoint presentations and other types of file, in order to hold them for ransom.
It creates and executes some files in the Program Files and startup areas, along with some registry entries. In order to decrypt the files and regain data, it asks you to meet specific conditions (involving payment) to receive a password, and opens an Internet Explorer page with further instructions.
ESET Win32/Filecoder.R virus cleaner requires you to indicate the file name or directory, as it will automatically handle the scan and disinfection procedure. On task completion, it loads the results in a plain text document for your inspection.
However, you should keep in mind that the tool doesnt offer real-time protection against this ransomware, so you have to resort to an anti-malware application that ensures round-the-clock security.
