ExcelExplorer Description
ExcelExplorer is an approachable and practical software application that gives you the possibility to open, view and edit Microsoft Excel files without having the spreadsheet tool installed. It comes packed with a couple of intuitive options that can be figured out by all user levels.
Clean and intuitive interface
Wrapped in a user-friendly interface made from a large window with a clear-cut structure, the utility has a built-in file explorer for navigating disk directories to locate and open Excel spreadsheets.
View and edit Excel spreadsheets
You can check out the rows and columns, cut, copy and paste data within cells, insert or delete cells, customize the font type and size, emphasize text (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough), set the text alignment, modify the height for rows and columns or ask ExcelExplorer to automatically adjust it, as well as rename or delete sheets.
It's also possible to undo and redo your actions, write mathematical functions using sum, average, count, max or min, or personalize colors for text and highlights. The modified document can be overwritten to the original one or saved as a new file, as well as previewed and printed. There are no other notable options available here.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the program didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. It had minimal impact on computer performance, running on low CPU and RAM, so it didn't hog system resources.
Taking into account its intuitive interface and options, ExcelExplorer should come in handy to all types of users who want to view Excel spreadsheets and edit them using basic tools, without resorting to Microsoft Excel. However, given its limited range of settings, the price of the registered edition seems too much.
