ExitWin Description
Every computer comes with various power options so you can save energy, all sessions, restart, or force all applications to close. However, there are different third-party enhancements you can use to perform one of the available power options. ExitWin is a suitable example, which can be configured to trigger them through custom hotkeys.
Can be used on the go
The application comes in an incredibly lightweight package, requiring no installation in order to function. Note that launching it directly locks your computer, but there’s a reason behind this method. It’s because the variety of possibilities to trigger power options is based on specific parameters.
As such, it’s best to create a first shortcut and fit it with the H parameter so that the help screen shows up to get you up and running. It’s a good idea to keep a shortcut with this parameter at hand in case things get too confusing.
Custom hotkeys for every power option
Depending on the parameter used, your computer can either switch to suspend-mode, standby, log off the current user, reboot, shut down, or ignore all hanging programs and force the computer to close, but be sure all your work is saved when using this method.
On the bright side of things, you can create a shortcut for each of these parameters, and they don’t even have to sit on the desktop, or even carry the application’s name. Since you get to work with shortcuts, a default method can be used to assign a different hotkey command to each of the available power options and simply place shortcuts out of plain sight so they don’t take up any precious space.
A few last words
All things considered, we can state that ExitWin might seem a little confusing at first, but it does manage to provide an incredible fast method of triggering one of different power options. Multiple shortcuts can be created and fitted with individual hotkeys, and the lack of an installer is sure to make it worth your while.
