F Lock Description
F Lock is a lightweight security application whose purpose is to help you restrict access to user-defined folders by protecting the sensitive information with the aid of a password.
Portable running mode
This is a portable utility which can be deployed on your system by simply running the EXE file. No Windows registry entries and other leftover files are stored on your PC. You may opt for copying it on a USB flash drive or other storage devices and take it with you.
Minimalistic looks
F Lock reveals a small and easy-to-decode layout. You cannot find a help manual included in the package but you can tweak the dedicated parameters on your own because they look very intuitive.
Locking capabilities
F Lock gives you the possibility to lock the content of an entire folder. It is not able to process individual files. Directories can be added in the working environment using the built-in browse button (the drag-and-drop support is not implemented).
The application allows you to set up a password for each folder. In addition, you are given the freedom to block access to directories without setting up a password. This is particularly useful in case you cannot remember the passwords used for locking the directories.
In order to unlock items, you need to import the target directories via the utility’s interface and specify the correct password.
Tests have shown that F Lock carries out a task very quickly and without errors. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.
Bottom line
All things considered, F Lock has to offer nothing more than basic security features for helping you lock folders, and is suitable especially for less experienced users. On the downside, there’s no support for a master password so it may prove to be a bit challenging to remember the passwords set for each directory.
