FastExtractor is Java-based application capable of scanning multiple files from a specified directory, in order to extract email addresses and save them to file. Therefore, it offers a quicker solution for solving this issues, as an alternative to manually opening each file to select and extract emails.

No setup required, besides Java

As long as you have Java installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can save the executable JAR file to any part of the hard disk and just double-click it to launch the program. Alternatively, you can copy it to a USB flash drive to seamlessly run it on any PC with Java. It doesn't make any modifications to the Windows registry in this regard.

Clean and intuitive interface

As far as the GUI is concerned, FastExtractor opts for a standard window with a straightforward appearance, enabling you to begin by selecting the target directory. The scanner immediately starts afterward and it may take a while, depending on the size of the target.

Find and save email addresses

However, you can view results in the main window as soon as they're identified, namely one email address per line, as well as check out progress details concerning the number of total found and scanned items, detected and unique email addresses, start time, and duration. The status bar reveals the full path of the currently scanned file, so you can consult this area if the program seems to be stuck on a particular object.
It's possible to cancel the task if it takes too long, and to export results to file. Worth noting is that, apart from the filename and directory, it's necessary to specify the format too (such as TXT). Otherwise, the tool creates a file with an unknown format and unassociated application.

Evaluation and conclusion

It carried out scan jobs fast in our tests, during which it remained light on system resources consumption. No errors were indicated and it didn't freeze or crash. Although it doesn't have rich features, FastExtractor facilitates a quick method for detecting and extracting all email addresses across multiple files from any given directory.
