File Encryption / Decryption is a software tool that can be used in order to help individuals encrypt and decrypt text and files from the computer, with support for SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512.

Portability advantages

Surprisingly enough, this utility is portable and therefore, going through the installation process is not a must anymore. The Windows registry is not going to be affected in any way, and there will be no leftovers after its removal.

All configurable options

This software app enables you encrypt and decrypt files using SHA hash functions and some predefined settings. To be more accurate, there are five options that provide you with password phrases, salt values, password phrase strength, initial vector, and file encryption and decryption type.
Aside from that, text can be decrypt and encrypted, using the same SHA cryptographic hash functions, as well as binary, symbols, RSA and MD5 algorithms. Once you are done with this, you can paste the resulted body text anywhere you deem fit.

Conclusion

All in all, File Encryption / Decryption is a pretty decent piece of software. CPU and memory usage is not at all significant and the response time is good. However, the interface is not so easy to handle and it has not been updated in a long time.
