File Manager Description
File Manager is an ultra-simplistic software application with a single goal in mind: it counts all files from a given location by taking into account their format.
It features just some basic options that can be figured out even by users with no previous experience in computer software.
Simple setup and interface
Setting up this program is a fast and easy job that doesn't bring up any issues, thanks to the fact that it contains only familiar options. At startup, it prompts a classical Explorer-based folder structure that you can use to select any directory or drive.
Count and remove files easily
File Manager automatically performs the directory scan job and starts listing all containing files in descending order, grouping them together by file type. Therefore, you can find out the extensions of most files existing in a location.
What's more, the app provides you with a button for deleting all files with a selected extension (requires confirmation). This is not recommended, though, since you might unwillingly erase important information or even files belonging to Windows.
Unfortunately, File Manager's functionality stops here. For example, it doesn't integrate a feature that allows you to further explore the files before deciding whether they're worth removing or not.
Evaluation and conclusion
Unsurprisingly, the utility had minimal impact on computer performance during our evaluation, since it required low CPU and RAM to work properly. It carried out scan jobs on large directories in record time, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or display error messages.
However, File Manager doesn't come loaded with advanced configuration settings (such as file filters) for experienced users, and the file deletion option might prove dangerous in the hands of novices.
