File Trimmer Portable Description
File Trimmer enables you to split files into multiple parts using three methods. It doesn't need installation and contains only basic options that can be figured out even by less experienced users.
Portable program with a simple GUI
Since this is a portable application, you can save its files in a custom location on the disk or on a removable storage unit to be able to directly launch it on any computer with minimum effort and no previous installers. It shouldn't make any changes to your Windows registry settings.
Wrapped up in a user-friendly interface made from a small window that shows all options provided by the utility, File Trimmer invites you to get started by specifying the file you're attempting to cut.
Extract the first or last part, or split the file in two
As far as trimming options are concerned, you can either cut the file from the beginning or ending to save only the first or last part in a new file, or split the file into two pieces, which are saved in two files.
In the following step, it's necessary to indicate the new file's name, destination folder and amount to extract. The offset can be established in bytes, kilobytes, or megabytes by moving a slider or writing a numerical value. If you're splitting the file in two parts, the first part gets the size entered in the offset, while the second gains the remaining size.
Evaluation and conclusion
The software tool didn't hog system resources in our tests, thanks to the fact that it used low CPU and RAM. It trimmed files rapidly without causing the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error messages. Too bad it doesn't integrate an option for putting files back together. Otherwise, File Trimmer gets the job done.
