FindMeInFile Description
FindMeInFile is an intuitive application you can use to find text across multiple documents at the same time. It supports .txt, .htm, .html and .php file types, among others.
The tool comes in handy for quickly locating a particular piece of information. Instead of wasting time to open one file at a time, you can scan multiple documents simultaneously.
Portable text finder with a simple interface
This is a portable software product, so installation isn't necessary. You can save the downloaded .exe file anywhere on your hard drive or copy it to a USB flash disk to effortlessly run FindMeInFile on any PC. Also, no new entries are added to the system registry and no extra files are generated on the disk.
The text finder has a user-friendly interface with approachable options. In the main window, you can pick the folder whose text documents you want to scan, filter files by type, and enter the keywords to look up.
Case sensitive, whole words, recursive search, and more
As far as additional search settings are concerned, you can enable case sensitive mode to tell apart upper from lower case letters as well as ask the tool to find whole words only, perform a recursive search, display only file names without the content, and show line numbering.
Once results are displayed, you can check out the name, extension, path, number of keyword occurrences and date of last modification for each file, along with the full lines where the keywords were found.
Set exclusions and text editors, customize colors
When it comes to program settings, you can set the preferred number of search paths, file extensions and keywords to keep in history, exclude files with any extension, index disk drives to perform searches faster, as well as customize the search and result windows when it comes to the foreground and background color, left border color, font, and font size.
External text editors can be set up to be able to access the text documents. Last but not least, you can restart the app with administrative rights as well as integrate it into the Windows Explorer context menu for fast access.
Conclusion
All things considered, FindMeInFile comes packed with an easy-to-use set of options for helping you find text across multiple documents at the same time.
