FLAC2AAC Description
FLAC2AAC is a small software application whose purpose is to help you convert FLAC files to AAC file format. You can install it on all Windows flavors out there.
Simple layout
The tool sports a straightforward design which makes it really easy for you to set up the dedicated parameters. FLAC files can be added in the working environment using the built-in browse button (the drag-and-drop support is not implemented).
The looks of the GUI can be changed by selecting between several preset themes.
Conversion capabilities
FLAC2AAC reveals information about each imported audio file, such as duration, input destination, output directory, and status. What’s more, you are allowed to delete the selected item or clear the entire workspace with a single click, select the saving directory, stop the conversion process, as well as shut down the computer at the end of the task.
A few configuration settings are hidden under the hood for helping you set the audio quality, adjust the sample rate, tweak the audio channels, and select the audio codec.
Tests have shown that FLAC2AAC carries out a task quickly. It does not eat up a high amount of CPU and memory resources so your computer’s performance is not affected. We have tested it on Windows 8.1 Pro and come across several bugs. It does not end properly (you need to force the process to close). It also becomes unresponsive.
What it lacks to enter the Pro league
On the downside, the application does not offer support for advanced features. Professionals cannot employ batch actions for processing multiple audio files at the same time and play the files directly from the main window, just to name some suggestions.
Final words
All things considered, FLAC2AAC needs several functionality improvements until it can be called a reliable audio convertor.
