FLV2MP3 is a very simple and fast application developed to convert FLV files to MP3.
It all comes down to a very small GUI that takes care of everything, but there are many things to be mentioned about the whole conversion process.
While it’s a very good thing that there are no configuration options and rookies could convert a FLV file on the go, advanced users clearly expect much more than that, so it’s very unlikely to see someone with more experience using this app.
A “double click for options” is required to open a so-called configuration screen, but the only option you get is actually the one that enables the program to check for updates automatically.
Dragging a FLV file over the main window should be enough to start the conversion process, but you can’t even choose a destination folder. Instead, FLV2MP3 places the MP3 file in the same folder as the source file.
What’s more, you don’t get any progress bar to track the overall progress of the task, but in most cases the app works blazing fast.
Drag and drop support doesn’t work on Windows 7 and since this is the only way to start the conversion process, the app becomes entirely useless.
All things considered, FLV2MP3 could come in handy to users who want to convert downloaded FLV clips to MP3 with no fuss. YouTube videos for example can be converted to MP3 in just a few seconds, and this is clearly good news for beginners.
