Folder Guide Description
Folder Guide is an easy to use application that can add your favorite folders to the Windows Context Menu for quick access.
As you may find out after the launch, it's the configuration process that's more important this time because users are required to manually define the target folders.
This means that Folder Guide can create a “quick access†folder list with the directories you define in the main GUI of the app, letting you open any of the selected items just by right-clicking anywhere in Windows Explorer.
The interface is well-organized and makes everything pretty intuitive, with clean buttons to add, edit and delete any entry. You can obviously sort the list and move items up or down.
While the application works flawlessly on older Windows versions and indeed creates a new entry in the Context Menu, Folder Guide doesn't seem to apply the changes in Windows 7. Administrator privileges make no difference, so it's probably just a compatibility issue.
On the other hand, Folder Guide launches just fine on Windows XP and doesn't hamper system performance in any way. You can even access the selected folders from the desktop or the Start button.
All in all, Folder Guide is an interesting application that could really come in handy to many users out there who wish to access their favorite folders faster. It's indeed a well-developed project, but the compatibility issues with Windows 7 forces some of the users to continue the search for an alternative product.
