Folder Size Description
Windows Explorer is still one of the most popular tools in Microsoft's operating system, although some important features it still lacks.
For example, it doesn't display the folder size in the detailed view mode. To check out the directory dimension, you have to right click it and hit the 'Properties' option to view its size every time you need it.
FolderSize Explorer Extension comes to solve this problem, bringing a new option into Windows that will allow users to see folder sizes in a split second.
It's not an application as you might expect, but an extension, just like its name suggests, so you won't see any interface or options. Just install it on your machine and that's it, but you still need to enable it in Windows Explorer.
All you have to do is to right click the column headers and look for the Folder Size entry, check it and click OK. Afterwards, if everything worked fine, you should be able to see the folder size displayed right in the Windows Explorer screen, alongside name, date modified and type information.
The most important thing is that FolderSize Explorer Extension doesn't need too much time to display the folder size, so it goes so smooth that you might be tempted into believing that it's actually a part of the operating system.
Unfortunately, there's a downside too, because FolderSize Explorer Extension doesn't work on Windows Vista or Windows 7 as it's compatible only with Windows 2k or XP.
If you still use on of the older iterations of Windows, this little extension will prove to be a must have, saving you a lot of clicking around when you need to view the size of any folders.
