Font Picker Description
Similar to the way every individual has its own handwriting style, the computer also makes it possible to write text in different types of characters. Windows comes with a large library of fonts, and you can enrich it through third-party content. In this regard, Font Picker comes with the means to help you view all installed fonts on your PC.
Visual design and perks of portability
A cool thing about it is that you’re saved the whole effort of pressing a few “next†buttons to get it installed, and you can take it for a spin as soon as download is done. Just make sure that the computer you use it on is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality. No traces are left on the target computer since registry entries are not modified in the process.
The application knows where all fonts are installed, and you don’t have to wait for the list to be built. It’s displayed on launch inside a clean, simple window layout. The list contains the name of each font, as well as a sample text written with the particular style so you know if it’s right for the project you want to use it in.
No possibility to interact with fonts
Furthermore, there’s the possibility to toggle the state of some attributes, such as bold, italic, bloditalic, strikeout, and underline. Colored horizontal grid lines make it easy to identify each font, even though items are not placed between these lines.
There are, however, a few downsides to the whole operation. For instance, some particular characters might not be recognized, with placeholders for characters, and can be the case for downloaded fonts. Second, you can’t write custom text to view in a selected font, nor can you copy characters from the list.
A few last words
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Font Picker is a lightweight, straightforward application with which to just view fonts installed on your computer. Sadly, you can’t interact with fonts in order to copy characters, and there’s a slight chance that third-party fonts are not properly recognized.
