If you often need to compare two different fonts or examine a certain script, then you might need to get a specialized app to help with the task. FontPage is a lightweight tool that could come in handy.
The app has a simple interface that is very easy to use, thanks to the intuitive layout.
Basically, the program gives access to the entire list of fonts from the computer. It lets you examine all the fonts on the system. For instance, you may choose the type from a list and modify the size, to get a better look at each letter. The background and font color can be modified as well.
The app comes with a preset test text, but it can be edited quite simply by clicking on the field. Alternatively, by clearing the checkbox, you can view the entire collection of letters, signs and numbers under that particular font.
Furthermore, you can view the contents under several emphasis options, such as bold, italic, underline and strikethrough. There are also some 3D styles available, such as “Inset” and “Raised”, “Light” and “Heavy”.
The app can filter through the available fonts by choosing the type. Thus, you can view “Vectors”, “Rasters”, “OpenTypes” and “TrueTypes”.
You may also view the font page character table and print a sample of the items. Some slideshow options are available, as well. In order to create one, you must select the fonts you want and define the time delay between slides.
The bottom line is that FontPage is a nice program that could provide some help. Inexperienced individuals should be able to easily figure out how to work with this tool.
