Footprint Satellite Tracker Description
You probably can’t see planet Earth from outer space anymore because of the abundance of satellites in orbit. However, down to our level, everyday activities are all guided by them, and needless to say that they are constantly tracked, and monitored. In this regard, Footprint Satellite Tracker gives you the possibility to track satellite movement around the globe.
Define time to predict satellite course and location
At launch the main window shows up, with a map of the entire globe, and several points of interest, such as the sun, moon, current location, and a satellite. By default, the application uses your system time in order to provide real time tracking of target satellites.
You’re free to change time values to predict course by simply modifying year, month, day, hour, and minute values. Additionally, there are two speed levels to go back or forth in time to analyze course. To help better visualize it, you can enable the pattern layout, with the satellite following its path.
Set location, and generate reports
Location can be changed by adjusting default application parameters. However, you need to know latitude, and longitude, because the application can’t automatically pinpoint the exact location. More values can be adjusted to force time zone to West, East, or normal, map tracking central longitude, minimum elevation, and source of satellite tracking information.
Prediction options allow you to analyze ephemeris details for the rest of the day, entire day, or those in vicinity. Additionally, you can print out monthly, or extended reports and lists, but these details can’t be saved to file unless you have a virtual printer installed.
Audio alerts beep to let you know whenever a change in movement is detected. You can’t configure different sounds for individual satellites, but you can choose what satellites to display through simple selection from a navigation panel.
A few last words
All things considered, we can safely state that Footprint Satellite Tracker can help you monitor satellites orbiting Earth for aid in research projects. However, the list of satellites you can track is rather poor, and there aren’t any options to manually connect to a specific source.
