Format Converter Description
Format Converter is a lightweight software application designed specifically for helping you perform conversions between various audio formats.
Importing options
The program lets you add audio files with different file formats, such as MP3, MP2, WAV, AAC, OGG, AIFF, FLAC, M4A, MOD, or MTM file format. Plus, the utility is able to read CDA tracks.
Files can be imported in the working environment using the built-in browse button (the drag-and-drop support is not implemented). The GUI looks simple and plain so you are not going to spend a lot of time tweaking the dedicated parameters.
Batch conversion actions
Format Converter gives you the possibility to apply batch actions for processing multiple files at the same time. You may create a list with the files that you want to convert or add the content of an entire folder, and remove the selected audio items from the conversion process.
Output formats and conversion settings
The application helps you convert songs to WMA, MP3, OGG, WAV, MP4, or AIFF file format. In addition, you are allowed to keep the existing tags, normalize the volume, remove DC offset, as well as pick the saving directory.
There’s support for several parameters that can be tweaked for each output file format. For example, if you intend to convert audio files to MP3 file format, you can adjust the frequency and number of channels, while WAV parameters can be tweaked in terms of frequency, bits per sample, and channels.
Tests have shown that Format Converter carries out the conversion process very quickly. It eats up a moderate amount of system resources.
Bottom line
All things considered, Format Converter comes packed with several basic features for helping you perform audio conversions, and is suitable especially for less experienced users.
