Free Audio Editor Description

Audio files can come from quite the variety of sources, and can even be entirely composed on a PC through specialized software components. Post-processing is also an important activity in audio management, and with the help of Free Audio Editor, you’re able to cut and merge audio files under the MP3 format.

Can be used on the go

Note that the application completely relies on Java Runtime Environment to function, so you need to make sure it’s installed before you can take it for a spin. This also means that it can run on other operating systems besides Windows, and since no installation is required, you can also carry it around on a thumb drive as your personal audio editor.
As far as the visual design is concerned, the application does a pretty good job at creating a balance between simplicity and style. Most of the space is where target files go, with a lower section containing playback and cut tools, and an upper toolbar for general file manipulation options.

Poor set of editing options

Drag and drop is not supported as a method of import, so you need to use the built-in browse dialog. On the bright side, you are free to load more files at a time, in case you want to bundle them all into a single output file. Note that you can only work with MP3 audio files for both import and export.
Unfortunately, the set of edit options is pretty poor, and you’re only able to cut files based on start and end times you need to manually specify. Luckily, playback controls let you generate audio preview to quickly adjust time values.

To end with

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Free Audio Editor is a straightforward tool with which to either cut specific sections out of MP3 files, or bundle more into a single large recording. It’s lightweight, doesn’t require installation, and gets the job done for these particular types of tasks.
