Free Flash to Apple AAC Converter Description
Free Flash to Apple AAC Converter is a very simple application made to prepare Flash video files for playback on Apple devices. This is done by extracting the audio stream to save it to M4A format. There are two output profiles available.
Create M4A audio tracks using FLV or SWF videos
In order to convert a Flash video file with the FLV or SWF extension, all you have to do is point it out using the file browser or drag-and-drop support, establish the output destination and file name, as well as pick an output profile, depending on which audio settings you prefer when it comes to the codec, channel mode, sample rate, and bit rate: MPEG2/4 LC 22050Hz, stereo and 64.00kbps, or normal quality MPEG2/4 LC, 44100Hz, stereo and 96.00kbps.
Evaluation results and observations
In the case of small videos, audio extraction jobs were carried out swiftly in our tests, and the utility kept the quality level pretty close to the original Flash files. As we expected, it didn't hog system resources. It warns you if you're attempting to overwrite an existing file, asking for confirmation and giving you the possibility to change your mind.
On the other hand, it failed to convert large videos, prompting a message that invited us to download and install a more advanced tool from the developer's website (which was unavailable at the moment of this review). Furthermore, it doesn't show a notification message at the end of the task to let you know that it's over, and it doesn't support batch processing.
Conclusion
Free Flash to Apple AAC Converter is a pretty old application, its project seems to be discontinued, so this kind of issues are bound to happen on later Windows editions. Nevertheless, it worked in several instances during our evaluation, so you can test it for yourself.
