Friendly Font Namer Description

Windows comes with a rich library of fonts to use in order to personalize documents, even though online and most types of other text content usually rely on a specific font. These can be rather difficult to identify and remember by name, but you can rely on applications like Friendly Font Namer to change the situation.

Can be used on the go

One of the application’s main advantages is that it saves you a great deal of effort otherwise required to go through a setup process. This means you can carry it on a thumb drive to use on other computers besides your own, but you need to check whether or not Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime is on the target PC to ensure functionality.
In terms of font support, the application helps you process both TrueType, and Type1 fonts, having TTF and PFB as file formats. The visual design is simple, posing no accommodation problems. There’s a navigation panel you need to use to go to the location of all installed fonts, which is usually in the Windows directory.

Fix font names with little effort

Note that you might not have proper access or privileges to modify font names on the spot, but the application does offer to create a new folder and copy newly-renamed font files there. Additionally, you can have a HTML font list file created in case you need a report of all fonts installed on your computer.
Unfortunately, you’re don’t actually have full control over the renaming operation. Instead, the application can take no action for font spaces and just fill in all details, or choose to replace spaces with hyphen, or remove them completely. As mentioned, original files are not altered, so there’s nothing to worry about.

To sum it up

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Friendly Font Namer isn’t really and application to use to rename fonts, but rather to bring a little order to the collection of installed fonts. It leaves original files intact, neatly copying them to a new folder.
