FTP Uploader Description
Nowadays storage isn’t limited to fixed and removable drives, and you can now save files of interest on the web. Nearly any computer can become a FTP server, but you might need specialized applications to upload and download files. This is where FTP Uploader comes in handy, with emphasis on picture uploading.
Upload one file at a time
On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t take you through a setup process, so you can check it out from the moment it reaches your computer. This also means that you can use it directly from a USB flash drive, which is helpful if you work on different computer. Just make sure that the target PC is fitted with .NET Framework.
You start off in the upload screen, which is fitted with a general browser for easy selection of the file you wish to upload. Unfortunately, you can only upload a file at a time, and dropping it over the main window doesn’t work.
Built-in screenshot tool and picture editor
Needless to say that it’s a good idea to configure the server details first, which means the FTP address, web path, as well as login credentials. As mentioned, the application puts emphasis on pictures, but it doesn’t mean you’re limited to image file formats.
The application comes with a component which helps you prepare images before being uploaded. Here, you can either open an existing image, or take a screenshot of the entire display. Before upload, you can crop the image, change its resolution, convert to PNG, select particular regions, or draw using the pencil tool. Images can be directly uploaded from the editor, given FTP details are already filled in.
A few last words
Bottom line is that working with a FTP server can prove quite handy, especially if you don’t want to risk losing important files on your computer. Although it’s not fitted with a file browser for the target server, FTP Uploader offers an intuitive mode to upload files, and even process pictures.
