FTPSearch Description

It’s a pretty bad idea to use a home computer for hosting online content, especially if it can count as a lot of used disk space. FTP servers usually help store files, but it can be a struggle to find the one of interest. Luckily, specialized applications like FTPSearch give you the possibility to quickly look up items of interest on more servers at a time.

Simple design lets you quickly accommodate

After a short while spent installing the application, you’re free to launch it and check out the set of features. Everything is kept organized in an intuitive interface, with several panes used to store the list of servers, as well as detected results. Requirement fields are the first you encounter, while trigger buttons quietly await your command in a side panel.
Needless to say that you need to write down the FTP server address, as well as the user name and password to connect with, with additional options to log in anonymously, and whether or not to keep the connection passive. Apart from the requirement fields, there’s also a pattern one, which needs to be filled in with the file you’re looking for.

Open results and export lists

Pressing the add button after server credentials are written down automatically shows it in a slit. You’re free to add as many as you like, but this needs to be done one by one. Generally, the scan process doesn’t take too long, but this depends on the structure of the server, as well as the connection you’re using.
Detected results are immediately shown, with the application automatically starts looking for files of interest. Sadly, there’s no option to make it run at startup, in case you’re waiting for a specific file to reach a FTP server.
When done, FTPSearch shows best matches, and gives you the possibility to export results as a plain text file. In addition, you can choose to open files to see if they’re the ones you’re looking for, or attempt to connect to a specific URL retrieved from scanning.

To sum it up

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that FTPSearch is a practical little utility that comes in handy when you need to search for a file on multiple servers. It skips a lot of effort, starting the process automatically, while results can be viewed before brought on your computer.
