Genre Playlist Builder Description
Just so you don’t have to load all songs again, audio players give you the possibility to save playlists, which can be read by multiple, different audio players. However, not all of them can create a playlist, but with applications like Genre Playlist Builder you can easily bypass this issue, in a simple, intuitive process.
Perks of portability
A neat advantage is that the application requires no installation in order to function, meaning you can carry it around on a USB flash drive to use on the go. Registries are not modified, so you don’t have to worry about doing any harm to the target PC. However, you do need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on the computer you use it on.
The visual design is a little rough around the edges, but it doesn’t mean it takes too long to get familiar with all it has to offer. A dedicated field is where the source folder path needs to be, while the rest of the space shows all detected files, and operations steps in the right order.
ID tags need to be filled in
You can’t just drop a folder over the main window to get it ready for processing, so you need to use the built-in browse dialog to point at the source folder. All subdirectories are included, but you need to make sure all files you want to add to the playlist are there, because you can insert them after the playlist is built.
There’s one more important thing for the operation to be successful. The application only reads files with the genre ID tag filled in, since this is the core filter applied to building your new playlist. Only those files are added, with detected genres stored in a drop-down menu for quick selection, and filter. At the press of a button, a new M3U playlist is saved to a location of your choice.
On an ending note
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Genre Playlist Builder comes with good intentions, and is sure to help you quickly build a playlist for a specific genre. However, this only perfectly works out if ID tags are properly filled in, and you need to make sure there’s nothing you wish to add later on.
