GetDiskData Description

Storage space is less of a concern nowadays, with devices fitted with enough space to easily transfer large quantities of data around. In case your work involves handling multiple such devices, then additional info might come in handy. With this in mind, GetDiskData wants to provide instant details.

Lightweight, and easy to use

One of its main advantages is the lack of an installer, so it’s good to go from the moment download is done. Running it right away instantly brings up the main window, with details already gathered and shown in an organized table. Both fixed and removable storage devices are put under the scope, with no preferences regarding the file system type.
There’s quite the variety put at your disposal. Found as column headers, you find out about the drive type, volume name, serial number, status, file system, capacity and free space in both MB and GB, bytes per sector, as well as the number of sectors or clusters. In case a device fails to show up on the list, hitting the “Refresh” button solves this inconvenience.

No option to export data

Unfortunately, data can’t be sorted by simply clicking column headers. In fact, it can’t be sorted at all. More disturbingly though is the lack of any possibility to export whatsoever, and you can’t even interact with rows, or a specific cell to simply have the value copied to clipboard in case you want to save a log.
Data does not update in real time, so every operation going on in the background is refreshed only after hitting the dedicated button. However, if it is enough to meet your demands, you can assign a hotkey command to the program’s shortcut from the Properties panel to instantly launch it, regardless of your location.

In conclusion

All things considered, GetDiskData comes with good intentions, but it delivers a little less than expected. Refresh needs to be manually triggered after every operation, but the most impact on overall practicality is delivered by the complete lack of export options.
