Gonzo Description

The only way in which a machine understands human interaction is through code. All interfaces are dozens of commands that translate your actions to the computer so it knows what needs to be done. The same applies for web pages, and with specialized applications like Gonzo you can create web pages a little easier, but still having to know some degree of programming.

Suitable for beginners and experts alike

In order for the application to successfully deploy and run, you need to make sure your computer is equipped with Adobe AIR. In case you're familiar with the Markdown text formatting syntax, then you won't encounter any issues in developing your pages.
This does not mean that beginners have a hard time learning, because the application lets you access a so-called “cheat sheet” which thoroughly explains how to put known functions to good use, while also providing visual feedback.

Real time updating visual feedback

In terms of design, the application is simple, but pretty intuitive. Your workspace is split into two adjustable panels, one representing the editor itself while the other generates a real time preview of your work, either in an integrated browser view, HTML form or CSS template.
Sadly, the application is only capable of importing MD files, which are Markdown specific, although it would have been useful to use at least HTML formats. Each project runs in its own tab, which allows you to easily analyze data or transfer lines of code.

A few preset commands

Furthermore, you can insert a few preset commands, such as a fair amount of heading types, horizontal rule, blockquote, links, images, emphasis and a few more. Unfortunately, a line counter is not implemented, but there is a function that displays the amount of words used. Moreover, you can quickly find elements thanks to a search engine.

In conclusion

On an ending note, Gonzo is a trustworthy application that can be used to create web page templates you can export to HTML to implement in bigger projects. Both beginners and experienced users have a shot at this thanks to the intuitive designed, which is further enhanced by the real time updating preview section with multiple view modes.
