Grease Pencil is a software utility built in Adobe AIR which provides a simple means of drawing on the desktop.

The installation process is a piece of cake, as it is over in a jiffy and does not offer to download of install any third-party products. After you complete it, you are met with a minimal and non-obtrusive interface. It goes in the system tray from the first launch and both power and novice users can work with it, without experiencing any kind of issues.

Toggle drawing, customize your brush and clear everything

This software utility enables you to draw on the desktop with a brush. This can be customized, seeing that you can change its color and size, from a panel which can be brought up by simply right-clicking any location on the screen.
By clicking the system tray icon, you make it possible to access a context menu which enables you to clear all your drawings, send them to the back or to the front and access the last mentioned pane. Moreover, you should know that all actions have a keyboard shortcut assigned, and you can view them with a click of the button, yet they cannot be changed, which can be viewed as a small setback. No other notable options are integrated.

Conclusion and performance

It does not put a strain on the computer’s performance, as it requires minimal amounts of CPU and memory usage. This also means that you can run it alongside other program without encountering issues. We did not detect any errors or crashes and the interface is intuitive.
Taking all of this into consideration, we can safely say Grease Pencil is a simple, yet efficient and reliable piece of software, dedicated to all user categories which are interested in drawing on their desktop.
