HAL9000

HAL9000 is a lightweight Yahoo! widget built specifically for helping you personalize your desktop by applying the HAL 9000 fictional character from Arthur C. Clarke’s Space Odyssey series. The character speaks at a specified time.
The widget sports a clean and straightforward layout that gives users the possibility to set up the dedicated parameters with just a few clicks.
HAL9000 comes packed with several configuration settings of its own that allow you to enable or disable the transparent circle that makes the gadget part of your desktop.
What’s more, you can set the silence duration pretty easily, thanks to its built-in slider.
Other options offered by the Yahoo! environment give you the possibility to prevent the windows from being dragged, set the opacity level, and ignore mouse events. You can also make the program stay on top of other applications, and this proves to pretty useful, especially when dealing with multiple tools at the same time.
During our testing we have noticed that the widget offers very good sound quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. Since there aren’t many configuration settings, even less experienced users can set up the dedicated parameters with minimum effort.
