Integrates with the Explorer context menu
Once the speedy and uneventful setup operation is over, the program gets integrated into the right-click menu of Windows Explorer, and it can be accessed for one or multiple selected files at the same time, as well as for all files within a selected folder.
Find out file signatures in bulk
After clicking on Hash Helper's entry from the context menu, it might take a while to gather all information. This is revealed in a standard window with a clear-cut structure, where you can check out the name, format and size of each file.
Double-clicking an entry from the list bring up another window on the screen that shows all calculated hashes, putting a basic search function at your disposal. The time of calculation is shown too. Any of the hash types can be excluded from the task, while settings can be restored to default anytime.
Evaluation and conclusion
The program took a while to calculate checksums in our tests. However, Windows Explorer becomes unresponsive to commands when the main window of Hash Helper is in focus.
It used low CPU and RAM, so it didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't trigger the OS to crash. All in all, this software utility facilitates a simple environment for discovering various kinds of file checksums.
