HDD Health is a tool designed to help predict hard drive failure for computers running on Windows OS. Basically, the app keeps track of your drives' status and alerts you of any problems.
The software actually reads and interprets the values of the S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring and Reporting Technology) attributes, which are available in all new hard disks. In this manner the app can predict failures on your hard drive by analyzing the speed of falling (lowering) and calculating the remaining time of HDD life based on this data.
Immediately after being fired up, the app scans your computer and gives you a diagnosis of your drives, including the temperature and overall health. When either of the two indicators is in the red zone of the gradient, then you should take further measures to fix your computer.
In addition, the app provides a list with the main details of the hard drives, such as manufacturer, model, firmware revision, serial number and capacity. You can also view an extended list of details for your drives.
Also, you can check the drive’s S.M.A.R.T. attributes, like the spin up time, spin retry count and temperature. The list is spread on multiple columns: ID, name, value, threshold and worst performance.
