HDD Unlock Wizard is a powerful software solution that helps you remove HDD passwords though a very easy to configure wizard.
Since it all comes down to a wizard, the interface is nothing special, but that's really a good thing since it helps the app serve its purpose quicker and easier.
Although it wouldn't normally be addressed to beginners, the same aforementioned wizard makes it suitable for those uninitiated as well because the application assists users throughout the whole unlocking process.
While HDD Unlock Wizard supports IDE and SATA hard disk drives, including desktop, Xbox and laptop hard disks, it does not work with USB/Firewire drives and RAID adapters.
The application initially performs a quick check to diagnose the drive, a process that's performed pretty fast and doesn't harm the data stored on the disk. There's one major aspect to be noted however: if HDD Unlock Wizard manages to recover the hard disk drive password, all data stored on the protected drive is removed and there's no way to restore it unless you have a backup.
As for the password recovery process, it could take up to several hours, depending on the password length, the hard disk capacity and the data stored on the drive.
Still, the application remains light on computer resources all the time and doesn't seem to have any problem to run on any Windows version on the market. Windows 7 users need to run the program with administrator privileges.
