HDVSplit Description

HDVSplit is a lightweight application designed to help you capture the feed from your High Definition Video camera. If you are looking for a cheap way to extract the video and to save it to your computer, this tool can be of help.
The digital cameras compatible with the HDV format use DV tapes for recording the movies. This can be enough for the users that only need to store their videos but if one needs to edit the video content, a solution solution to capture it on the hard drive is required.
This tools is designed to help review the recorded movie and to capture certain parts. It is able to detect the scenes from the tape and automatically split them by creating separate files which are saved to a selected location.
You can also use the application to split a previously captured video by detecting the scenes saved in the MPEG transport stream files. You just need to select the files and choose a naming pattern in order to save the scenes as separate files.
Other useful features include the possibility to synchronize the audio and video streams during the capture process. The captured frames can be previewed in order to capture the scenes that you are interested in.
Although the process might seem complicated for a casual user, the program is actually easy to use and includes step by step instructions for capturing the video content. The interface provides access to all the controls and there are no intricate functions to speak of.
Overall, HDVSplit can come in handy if you want to capture the movies recorded with a HDV camera and automatically split the file into separate scenes.
