Hieroglyph Library Description
Hieroglyph Library is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you check out the significance of Egyptian hieroglyphics by inspecting several categories of ideograms.
The database contains approximately 500 Egyptian symbols, including transliterations, translations and information about each symbol. Data comprised in the utility varies from consonant symbols up to abstract determinatives (hieroglyphic symbols).
Clean feature lineup
You are welcomed by an intuitive layout where you can analyze and preview different sorts of ideograms. A help manual is included in the package for providing additional information about the significance of several terms, such as transliteration, determinative, ideogram, and abbreviation.
Find out more about ideograms
Hieroglyph Library gives you the possibility to choose between several categories which store ideograms related to various subjects, such as people or parts of the human body, creatures or parts of their bodies, sky, earth, water or plants, and other small miscellaneous signs.
You can copy the selected glyph to the clipboard so you can easily transfer the image into other third-party programs, go to the next or previous symbol, and filter the information by consonant, determinatives, ideogram, and abbreviation.
Tests have shown that Hieroglyph Library carries out a task quickly and without errors. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
Bottom line
All things considered, Hieroglyph Library comes with several handy tools for helping you read the ancient language. You can also use it as a database that you can refer to when you need to look for the significance of common Egyptian symbols.
