HTML Stripper Description
HTML Stripper is a piece of software designed to remove HTML attributes from webpages, in order to fix various issues, such as JavaScript that cannot be executed, banners which cannot be loaded, or mouse over effects that don't work.
Simple interface and options
The interface is made from a small window with a simple design and layout, where you can get started by opening an HTML webpage with the help of the file browser. Batch processing is unsupported, so you can remove the HTML attributes of only one file at a time.
It's possible to remove indents and empty lines, search HTML headers to replace with something else, adjust the picture path, move images to the central picture folder, change the configuration file, create backups of the original HTML files, as well as pick a different UI language.
No setup necessary
There is no installation involved, which makes HTML Stripper portable. This means that you can extract the program files to a custom directory on the HDD or copy them to a removable storage unit to directly launch it on any PC with as little effort as possible, by just double-clicking the .exe. It doesn't change your system registry configuration.
Evaluation and conclusion
Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, it worked smoothly on newer Windows models in our tests, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error messages. HTML stripping jobs were carried out fast while the tool remained light on system resources consumption, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.
On the other hand, HTML Stripper's interface needs major improvements in the graphical department. Other than that, you can test this app for yourself, since it's free for non-commercial use.
