HtmlDocEdit Description

There’s a staggering amount of lines of code behind every functioning web page. Although there are multiple languages which can be used for development, HTML remains among the top choices. As such, HtmlDocEdit comes as a handy editor which helps you work on existing files, or start new projects from scratch.

Work on your existing HTML projects

A cool advantage is that you can go ahead and see what it’s all about from the moment download is done, because there’s no setup involved. This also means you can easily carry it around on a thumb drive, but you need to be sure that the computer you use it on is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s mandatory for functionality.
The visual design is wrapped around a classic window frame, with most of the space dedicated to the edit area, while the upper toolbar holds buttons to quickly access most functions. Opening existing files is done through the browse dialog, letting you choose from formats like HTML, HTM, as well as plain text files.

Poor set of editing features

Needless to say that a great deal of knowledge is required, especially because there aren’t any elements to quickly add, such as snippets or predefined bits of code. What you can insert, however, are links, pictures, and horizontal lines.
Unfortunately, working with HtmlDocEdit requires a great deal of effort on your behalf. It’s devoid of any info fields to show number of characters or lines, and there’s no line numbering on the side to make it easy to track code. Without a syntax highlighter you need to be extra careful to every bit of code you write.

A few last words

All things considered, we can state that HtmlDocEdit is a straightforward application which doesn’t differ a lot from a plain text editor, except the support for HTML files. It could have used at least a syntax highlighter, making it a rather poor choice for long-term, or complex projects.
