HWareInfo

HWareInfo is a command-line utility that shows hardware information about your computer. It features several arguments that can be easily used, even by those with minimal experience in console applications.

View device and OS details

It's possible to examine devices (-D), the operating system (-o), storage media (-S) and PC users (-U). The devices are both the ones built into the PC unit, along with any removable ones currently plugged in.
OS information focuses on the current user, system uptime, OS type and service pack, build type, registered name and organization, product ID, system root, current and install time.

View storage media and PC user details

Moreover, you can read about storage media, namely the type, volume label and serial, file system, sectors per cluster, bytes per sector, free, used and total clusters, as well as free, used and total space of each device.
As far as PC users are concerned, HWareInfo reveals the name, flags, password age, total bad passwords, last logon time, and number of logons for each entry. There is no option implemented for dumping information to file. However, you can select and copy text.

No installation required

The entire program's packed in a single .exe file that can be dropped in a custom directory on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly call its process from a Command Prompt window on any PC without setup.
It doesn't make any changes to your system registry, create files on the disk without permission, or need DLLs or other components to work properly. In order to uninstall it, you simply need to delete this executable.

Evaluation and conclusion

Information was quickly displayed in our tests while system resources were minimally used. We haven't come across any stability issues, as it didn't hang, crash or indicate errors. Although it hasn't received updates for a long time, we haven't experienced compatibility issues with newer Windows versions.
