Icons from File Description
As the name implies, Icons from File is a program which enables you to extract and save icons from all kinds of files. It is simple to use, even if you don't have background in such tools.
The interface of the application is pretty intuitive. Files can be imported into the workspace using either the file browse or "drag and drop" method.
There is also the possibility of displaying an Explorer-based folder structure, in order to rapidly navigate directories and select files for icon extraction. Plus, you can include subdirectories and filter files by specifying the minimum number of icons to look for.
You can save all icons found in a file, or just the selected ones, as well as merge them to a single file. The output format can be either ICO, BMP, JPG, EMF, GIF, PNG, HTML or DBF, as well as printed or copied to the Clipboard.
A few options of Icons from File let you select the icon size between large (32x32 pixels) and small (16x16 pixels), show the selected icon in a separate window, save settings to the Registry, and switch to a different GUI language.
Icons from File is low-demanding concerning the CPU and system memory, pretty responsive to commands, and saves icons quickly, without triggering any errors, hanging or crashing. In conclusion, Icons from File may not look very impressive at a first glance, but it definitely gets an icon extraction job done rapidly, thanks to its intuitive layout and features, ideal for all types of users.
