ICSProtocols is a comprehensive application designed to help you carry simulations of DNP3, MODBUS and OPC protocols that feature various configurations and that are commonly used in process automation systems.
The DNP3 Protocol is primarily used in water and electric companies and although they were designed to be highly reliable, unfortunately, they are also vulnerable to attacks by hackers and other malevolent forces. An attack carried out to a weak DNP3 configuration can disrupt the control system and even disable the critical infrastructure.
Developed with industrial applications in mind, MODBUS and OPC protocols are commonly available in an environment that deals with the manufacturing and testing industrial electronic devices. Generally speaking, simulations for the latter protocols are necessary to determine whether the master message is sent correctly to the slave and hence, the command is executed within the desired parameters.
Even though the application includes presets with the master and slave for the protocols, you should bear in mind that all variables and objects available are configurable. Therefore, you can browse through the settings or set up different polling groups, for each command you may want to carry out.
