IdealMediaSolution is a software application that can be used for ripping DVDs and Blu-ray Discs, convert videos, as well as download clips from online platforms for offline viewing.

Not so impressed by the GUI

The GUI looks outdated so you may need extra time in order to get used to working with it. There’s no support for a help manual so experimenting with the built-in features is your only chance to learn more about the utility’s capabilities.
IdealMediaSolution implements a multi-tabbed layout for helping you gain access to the key features of the utility, namely DVD and Blu-ray Disc ripping, Blu-Ray copying, video downloading, and clip conversion options.

Ripping and conversion capabilities

The application is able to rip DVDs and Blu-ray Discs or process DVD and Blu-ray folders that contain video streams.
You are given the freedom to output data to a wide range of file formats, which are organized in different categories (profiles) so you can easily spot them in the list, such as Generic, Amazon, Asus, Android, BlackBerry, Motorola, Samsung, Sony, Dell, Apple, and Google.
You can export the video and audio streams to MKV, MPEG, H.264, DIVX, XVID, WMV, MP3, WMA, or other file format, select the titles, audio and subtitle streams that you want to save on the disk, and pick the saving directory.
A basic player is integrated in the main window in order to help you play or stop the video files. In addition, you can make the utility shut down the computer at the end of the task.
IdealMediaSolution lets you convert custom video files (e.g. AVI, WMV, MKV, MP4, VOB, FLV) to one of the profiles supported for ripping tasks and back up the original Blu-ray disc to hard drive, burn data to a BD, or export Blu-ray data to ISO file format.

Audio and video tweaks, and downloading options

You are allowed to manually tweak several video settings by altering the encoder, bitrate, frame rate, width and height, as well as resolution. Audio adjustments can be modified in terms of encoder, number of channels, bitrate, sampling rate, and volume.
The tool lets you download videos from various online platforms, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Metacafe, Dailymotion, RaiTv, and LiveLeak.

Bottom line

All things considered, IdealMediaSolution integrates a handy suite of features for helping you perform DVD/Blu-ray disc ripping and copying tasks but it still needs some GUI improvements. On the downside, it failed to convert video files to different formats and download online clips in our tests.
