ImageXGUI Description

Most of the advanced users are aware of the advantages of the ImageX tool in windows. The utility has been created to help professionals create system images (WIM) as well as modify it without having to extract the contents and re-building it again.
One drawback is that the utility is console-based and working with it is not the easiest job. However, third-party developers made available a graphical user interface that makes working with the tool faster and more convenient.

No installation required

The name is ImageXGUI and it offers an extremely comfortable way to work with ImageX as all the options are available in a straightforward interface.
There is no need to install the application; double-clicking on the executable file launches it in no time.

Straightforward interface, simple options

Looks are not impressive because the developer focused on the functional part rather than bells and whistles, which might even distract the user.
There are three menus present in the main screen, each with a precise function: creating an image, deploying it on the system and the network and copying section.
ImageXGUI allows any user to create a system image in WIM format and store it to any path. Among the options available for this operation there are compression settings and the possibility to define a name and a description for the resulting file.
Deploying an image can be done easily, on any local drive, with the possibility to format the target partition and to enable re-writing of the boot sector.

Conclusion

ImageXGUI makes working with ImageX tool a walk in the park. In just a few clicks it can create the package and writing it to a local drive is not more difficult. Both these options worked fine during our tests but we could not initialize the network component.
