Intrigue Description
There’s a high chance there’s a computer in every domain of activity, including music production. As such, you can connect a microphone and start capturing sound and save it to file. In case you want more control over the operation than the default sound recorder provides, you can always use specialized applications like Intrigue.
Rather rough visual design
The application comes with several advantages, and one of the main ones is portability. This means that you don’t need to go through a setup process to deploy it on your computer, so you’re free to carry it around and use wherever needed. What’s more, registry entries remain intact during the whole operation, so the health status is not affected.
Truth be told, the visual design is pretty rough, but this doesn’t really make it difficult to use. Even so, the overall arrangement of elements is pretty intuitive, and options at your disposal are fitted with fields accompanied by clear tags. Needless to say that you need to make sure your microphone or other recording device is working fine.
Leaves much to be desired
Before you start the capture session, you need to adjust recording parameters. This includes the number of channels, bitrate, samplerate, as well as the device you pick from a drop-down menu, and can even be speaker sound. Hitting the confirmation button processes your settings, letting you then record sound.
All details are also shown next to recording controls, but you can’t edit them unless you restart the application. This also goes for new recording sessions, with no usable options after a file is saved. What’s more, you’re only able to save the new files under the WAV file format.
A few last words
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Intrigue comes with good intentions, but isn’t really packed with the right set of tools to fully live up to expectations. You need to restart the application after every recording session, and there’s only one available output format to use.
