IP2 Description
IP2 is a very lightweight utility designed to show your computer’s WAN and LAN IP addresses.
Mostly aimed at users with dynamic IP addresses that change every time they connect to the main server, IP2 comes with the essential features and nothing more.
The program’s GUI comprises just a single window taking care of everything, showing the LAN IP, computer name, WAN IP and hostname. Additionally, “Copy†buttons placed right next to each of these fields lets you copy the information on the go.
IP2 also offers an “Autorun†option to automatically start the application together with Windows, but many important features are missing completely from the package.
For instance, while it can be easily used as an IP monitoring tool to keep track of every IP change, there’s no notification system, which is quite a major setback.
There is no help section available, but basic information is displayed right in the main window, thus lending a hand to beginners who may have a hard time trying to figure out the meaning of WAN and LAN IPs.
IP2 has only a very low footprint on hardware resources and can be safely installed on any Windows workstation out there, be it Windows XP, Vista or 7.
Overall, IP2 is indeed a helpful project that needs further development to become a much more powerful tool. It already has the essential tools and a user-friendly GUI, so all future updates can only make it better.
