The application follows government reglementations and offers you the use of a Hindi keyboard with the appropriate layout that makes it easy for you to learn the characters.
When taking a test you are provided with the original text and you have to translate it or recreate it within the time interval you previously set. After the test ends, the application generates some statistics about your performance. You get to see the time it took you to complete the test, the gross speeds for characters and words per minute, as well as the net speed word per minute.
JR Typing Tutor is indeed a helpful application but its interface makes it in some aspects hard to use. For example, if you have a display with less than 800 pixels on the the short side, some features are inaccessible. Resizing the main window only reduces the frame of the application, without shrinking the actual content inside so of you don’t have a decently large monitor, you can’t use the application the way it’s meant to be.
In closing, JR Typing Tutor has the potential and purpose to truly be a helpful learning tool but it does need some much needed interface work in order for it to be more accessible.
