Karaoke Description
Karaoke is a plugin for Audacity, the famous audio editing tool, that aims to remove the vocals via the stereo signal.
It is very simple to install and set up, even by users with limited experience in audio processing software, who want to prepare songs for karaoke entertainment.
The tool consists of a DLL file that you must move to the "Plug-Ins" folder in Audacity's installed files. From this point on, you can enable the plugin every time you start the audio editing application.
Once you have recorded sound, you can activate Karaoke by selecting it from the "Effect" menu. All you have to do is adjust the vocal volume effect by moving a slider or directly inputting the numerical value.
Before applying the setting, it is possible to preview results by playing the modified version of the first part of the sound file. Thanks to Audacity's built-in options, you can undo your actions and repeat the process if you're not satisfied with the outcome.
Unfortunately, Karaoke does not do a good job at removing vocals. We have tested it applying different settings, but the volume level of the instrumental background diminishes along with the vocals, making the plugin of little use. For better results, you can check out Vocal Remover, a Winamp plugin.
