Karen's Alarm Clock Description
Karen's Alarm Clock is a small software application whose purpose is to help you set up different alarms in order to remember about important events. It can be deployed on all Windows flavors out there.
Clean GUI
The tool reveals an intuitive layout that allows you to set up the dedicated parameters in a short amount of time. It also shows the current time (in hours and minutes) directly in the main window. A progress bar is implemented in the GUI for tracking the time left until another minute passes.
Set up different alarms
Karen's Alarm Clock gives you the possibility to configure up to five different alarms at the same time. You may enable or disable the selected ones. A new alarm can be created by specifying the time in hours and minutes. In addition, you can add a user-defined name to each alarm.
You can set up audio notifications by playing a preset audio file. What’s more, you are allowed to play a certain track from an audio CD. Audio playback controls are embedded in the main panel for helping you start or stop the sound.
Other important tweaking parameters worth being mentioned enable you to adjust the brightness of the GUI and show the time using the AM/PM notation or 24 hour format.
The utility does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered. On the downside, it has not been updated for a long time so you may bump into compatibility issues on newer operating systems. We have tested it on Windows 8.1 Pro and come across bugs. For example, we could not test the alarm sound due to several errors.
Final remarks
To sum things up, Karen's Alarm Clock has to offer nothing more than basic and straightforward features for helping you configure alarms. However, it needs functionality improvements.
