Karen's Computer Profiler Description
Karen's Computer Profiler offers users a simple, quick and easy means of viewing detailed information about their system's hardware and software configuration.
Neat, organized and intuitive interface
The interface is clean and easy to use, devoid of any distracting element or useless decoration. Less experienced users will find it simple and intuitive, while more advanced ones will find it functional and straightforward.
The main window of the application features a number of tabs which can be accessed in order to view information about various aspects of the system's configuration.
The tabs include OS, folders, programs, CPU/BIOS, power, memory, ports, PCI, SCSI, drives, printers, time and others.
Accessing one of these tabs enables users to view various items of information regarding the component in question. Selecting one of these items will display a short description of what the item refers to in the application's right-side panel.
The data is provided by the application as plain text which can be saved as a file or copied to the clipboard for processing in another program.
An austere set of features
The application does not provide the same amount of information as other comparable programs. It merely offers a quick and easy way to extract all of the relevant hardware and software information available to the operating system and provides a means for the user to save or export it as plain text.
For example, it does not provide any information regarding the characteristics of the installed memory modules (number, frequency, latency, voltage, etc) nor does it read any of the system's hardware sensors, such as temperatures or fan speeds. Though the application works well, and does what it sets out to achieve, this lack of features can be considered a disadvantage.
Conclusions
Setting up and running the application was easy and fast. While running, the program experienced no unexpected behavior, freezes or crashes and took up very little of the system's resources.
To sum it up, this lightweight application is both intuitive and easy to use, however more advanced users, or professionals looking for a more powerful or comprehensive diagnosis and information tool might find it lacking.
