Karen's Version Browser Description

It’s a heavy amount of effort to develop an application, or video game, and it’s close to impossible to get the code right, and mark out all issues. Problems are usually fixed with new versions, info which might be written inside the executable, or target file. To view this small piece of info, Karen's Version Browser lets you select any file, view, and export related details.

Lightweight, and easy to use

You only get to spend a little time installing the application to make sure it works on your computer. On launch, a compact window shows up. It’s fitted with short descriptions of each step, which total up to three. There’s also built-in documentation, but even inexperienced individuals can quickly get the hang of things.
The first step is to navigate to the location of the file you want to analyze. Sadly, the built-in navigation panel is the only way to move through folders, and the general design can make it rather uncomfortable, especially because of the cluttered space. Additionally, you can choose to have network locations shown as well.

File filters, and export options

Every folder you select unveils its content in a dedicated panel. There’s no file filter applied, but the option exists. In fact, filters represent the seconds step, but it’s not a mandatory requirement, but rather a method of narrowing down results. There are various popular formats you can quickly select, or add your own in a dedicated field.
Only one file can be processed at a time. Quit the variety of details is put at your disposal, such as name, date, attributes, size, description, file version, flags, OS, company, copyright info, trademarks, and several more. To save, a TSV (tab separated values) file can be created, or you can use the print function to export all data on a piece of paper, or through a virtual printer.

On an ending note

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Karen's Version Browser extracts a great deal of info from any kind of file. Unfortunately, it can get a little time consuming to actually find the file of interest, since there’s no search option, field to write down a custom path, or possibility to simply drop the file over the main window.
