Kernel Tape Description
Kernel Tape is a handy piece of software especially designed for anyone who needs to recover data that was lost due to any kind of damage suffered by the tape drives where the information was stored on.
The application can quickly search and identify the corrupted files so you can select the ones you need to recover, then attempt to restore them. It supports a wide range of tape drives, such as Digital Linear Tape (DLP), Linear Tape Open (LTO), Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) and Digital Audio Tape (DAT).
Furthermore, the program is very easy to use, as it displays a wizard-like interface that can guide you through the process of recovering data from damaged or corrupted tape drives. It can recover data lost due to a multitude of causes, ranging from broken or de-spooled backup tapes, system shutdown errors or program failures.
You can load data from existent tape images or create new ones for your drives. In this manner, you can work with both tape drives that already have an image file, as well as with those that do not.
Damaged tape drives are recovered by recreating them along with the damaged data. After the reconstruction, the damaged and recreated tape drives are compared and the repaired files are displayed in a tree-like structure.
Any of the recovered files can be copied and stored in a certain folder, so that you can use them later on. This provides a way to backup damaged files, as copying them to multiple folders ensures protection from future data loss or tape drive failure.System requirementsMemory: 64 MB (the more the better)
Processor: Pentium II 400 MHz
Limitations in the unregistered versionYou cannot save recovered data
