Keyboard Indicator

Keyboard Indicator is a small and pretty useful application that sends instant visual and audible notifications whenever you press the Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock or Insert keys. It comes in handy to laptop users who do not have LED indicators for these keys, for example.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can extract the program files to any location on the hard disk and just click the executable to run.
As an alternative, you can save Keyboard Indicator to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any machine with minimum effort (as long as it has .NET Framework installed).
An important factor to take into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and no additional files are created on the HDD.
At startup, Keyboard Indicator creates an icon in the system tray area and becomes active. From this point on, sound is triggered and a small label on the bottom left corner of the screen pops up whenever you press the Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, or Insert key.
Settings can be configured by bringing up a panel from the tray icon's context menu. It is possible to customize label properties when it comes to the background and foreground color, font and opacity, disable sound, as well as set Keyboard Indicator to autorun at system startup.
In addition, you can alter the label's position on screen, alter the style, time interval, animation and speed, as well as edit label names. Settings can be restored to their factory values.
Keyboard Indicator has a good response time and runs on a barely noticeable quantity of CPU and RAM. We have not come across any problems throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang or crash or pop up error dialogs.
Unfortunately, users do not have the possibility of pointing out other keys for enabling notifications, or to disable some of the supported ones. Nevertheless, Keyboard Indicator provides a simple means to ensure awareness when pressing the Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock or Insert keys.
